Text to Speech
Read messages aloud in voice chat
You can setup text to speech in the /tts menu. Select a listen channel from the dropdown, this is the channel Kuyo will read messages from.
Join a voice channel and click Join. Kuyo will join your channel and start reading new messages. You can also use /tts join, if you haven't set a listen channel yet Kuyo will use the channel you ran the command in.
Voice
To change the voice, click on Settings, then Voice Settings. You can choose from 4 voices:
| Engine | Available Settings |
|---|---|
| Google Translate Old | Default - 25 languages - 1 voice |
| Google Translate New | 25 languages - 1 voice |
| Edge | 1 language - 12 voices |
| Espeak | 25 languages - 1 voice - male / female |
You can choose a language for every voice but Edge.
Gender only works for Espeak, and speed can be set for every voice.
Filter
By default only people in voice is enabled, so Kuyo only reads messages from people who are in the same voice channel as it. You can turn this off in Options.
If you want Kuyo to ignore certain people, select Allow / Ignore from Settings. You can choose up to 10 users and 10 roles.
Allow: Only messages from selected users and roles will be read. If nothing is selected, nothing will be read.
Ignore: Messages from selected users and roles will not be read.
Messages from bots and messages that look like commands are never read.
Limits
Messages longer than the max characters are skipped, by default this is 1500. You can change this in Limits (100 to 2000). Max speak seconds cuts a spoken message off after a while, by default this is 30seconds (5 to 60).
Up to 40 messages can wait in the queue, if more come in, the oldest one gets dropped.
Pausing
You can pause text to speech by clicking on the Pause button or with /tts playback. When it's paused, Kuyo stays in voice but won't read anything until you resume. Kuyo leaves when nobody is left in the voice channel.
Other settings
Say Display Name

Read Emojis
